I don’t believe a useful product review should simply repeat specifications from a manufacturer’s website or summarize information found elsewhere.
When I review a product, I focus on what I learn from actually owning and using it. Depending on the product, I may use it for weeks, months, or even years before sharing my experience.
This allows me to document things that may not be obvious when a product is new, including long-term durability, everyday usability, performance, limitations, and problems that may only appear over time.
How I Test Products
My reviews are based on hands-on experience whenever possible.
My testing process may include:
- Personally purchasing and using the product.
- Using products in normal, everyday situations.
- Long-term ownership and testing.
- Taking original photographs of the products and my own experience.
- Recording measurements and observations when meaningful and practical.
- Comparing products with alternatives I have personally used.
- Documenting problems, limitations, and unexpected issues.
- Updating reviews when longer-term experience changes my opinion.
The testing process varies depending on the type of product. A battery charger, an office chair wheel, a dental water flosser, and a temperature monitor cannot all be tested in exactly the same way.
The goal is not to make every review look the same. The goal is to use a testing approach that makes sense for the product and provides useful information to someone considering buying it.
Original Photography and First-Hand Information
The photographs published in my reviews are generally my own photographs of the products and my experience using them.
I also try to include observations, measurements, and details that are difficult to learn from a manufacturer’s product page or a typical store listing.
When I have useful long-term experience with a product, I include it in the review so readers can see not only what the product was like when I first purchased it, but also how it performed over time.
Honest Conclusions
A product does not have to be perfect for me to recommend it.
My reviews include both the things I like and the things I don’t like. When I encounter limitations, failures, inconveniences, or problems during ownership, I try to document them rather than leave them out.
I also recognize that a product that works well for one person may not be the right choice for someone else.
For that reason, my reviews focus not only on whether I liked a product, but also on who I think it may be suitable for and what potential buyers should consider before purchasing it.

That is the gap KoolMango tries to fill.
